When musicians are not touring, they play anyway. On Tuesday night in New York City, Tony Garnier—Bob Dylan’s bassist and music director—took a break from the never-ending tour to play with Jonny Rosch at the P&G Bar. He goes back on the road with Dylan on Saturday.
Rosch, himself a member of the Blues Brothers band, just got back from a short tour in Greece and Italy. Anton Fig, a member of the CBS Orchestra on the David Letterman Show, sat in on drums, while Oz Noy, the Israeli jazz-funk guitarist, joined the group. Dan Cipirano, long time sax player for Wilson Pickett, played horn. It’s summer in the city, and the best musicians are playing small clubs. Life is good.
